Fast Facts About AquaTas

The wellboat is 84 meters long and 16 metres wide. It has a loaded draft of 8.3 metres and can displace 7,784 tons when fully loaded. 

Captain: Responsible for overall command and navigation of the vessel.

Chief Officer: Assists the captain and oversees the deck crew and cargo operations.

Chief Engineer: Manages the engine room and all mechanical systems on board.

1st Engineer: Supports the chief engineer in maintaining and operating the vessel’s machinery.

Fish Husbandry Technician: Specialises in the care and management of the fish during transport.

Integrated Ratings: These crew members perform a variety of tasks, including deck work, engine room assistance, and general maintenance.

Cook: Prepares meals for the crew and may also assist with other duties as needed.

The crew works on a rotational schedule, typically one month on and one month off, ensuring our staff are always safe.

Tassal gave employees the opportunity to name the new wellboat. After many interesting ideas, there was a number of names shortlisted and taken to the Executive team for the final decision and AquaTas was born. Thanks to Jim Richards who suggested it, Jim is a Diver at Nubeena.
